Everyone, I'd like you to meet Kalia.

Ours was an unexpected and whirlwind romance. I was flirting fairly seriously with her roommate, a lovely if high-dollar Gibson Songwriter Studio, when I noticed Kalia's unusual looks and picked her up on a whim. Amazingly, the quality of her voice - warm and deep, but balanced in the midrange with just slightly tremulous highs - had me seriously reconsidering my intentions within a few minutes. And after much comparison with the Songwriter and a few of her other neighbors, as well as a pleasant surprise when I looked at her price tag, I realized she was a real contender for my affections.

Of course, even I wasn't foolhardy enough to make a lifetime commitment on an acquaintance of an hour at most. I went home to think it over, as well as ask my family's counsel. But somewhat to my surprise, they not only urged me to make the leap, but arranged our already-hectic schedule the following day to allow a last-minute proposal before our flight, thus allowing me to take her with us instead of going through a mail-order service. And so, after getting the economic considerations out of the way, it was my joy to take her with me, the beginning of what I'm certain will be a long, passionate and (I hope) fruitful relationship. <3

missroserose: (Psychosomatic)

Saw three sets of friends in two cities

Test drove a BMW wagon

Walked the two miles from the hotel to Mill Avenue (and, afterward, back)

Had amazing Irish and Indian food (not at the same place)

Bought a desk, bin, and trays at IKEA so I can clear all my crafting stuff off the kitchen table

Lamented not having the cargo room to buy a coffee table and bookshelves too (which is where the wagon would've come in handy)

Got supplies for my next sewing project

Drove through a minor dust storm

Installed and worked out how to use the iPhone MapQuest GPS app

Remembered exactly how grueling it is, going from Bisbee to Tempe and back

Home now. And time for tea. Then, bed.

oh god I am so tired

Holy crap.

I may have just talked my way into another job. Completely unintentionally. Despite the fact that I'm starting to have to trot to keep up with the two I've already got. And it's something I'd likely really enjoy doing, even if the hours could be better. Pay would likely be pretty decent, too, and it's the sort of thing that could open up a lot of opportunities down the line. Like, a lot.

Sigh. I seem to remember, not too long ago, thinking something like 'hey, look - I can work part time and work on my writing and won't that be pleasant'. But I seem to have decided that the laid-back life isn't for me. Maybe I have some of my mother's overachieving genetics after all?

missroserose: (Christmas Picard)

I'm currently posting this from a tiny handheld computer with a touchscreen and actual usable dictation abilities. This same machine is wirelessly streaming the new Owl City album to the family room speakers, which it did when I asked it to. Like, with my voice. And that isn't even a tenth of its capabilities.

The future is here, people. And it is awesome.
