Work-sponsored holiday massages make me happy. Even if they're only twelve minutes long.

zomgwut?

*jealous*

man, a 12 minute massage could do wonders for the knots I have in my shoulder...fuck, a friend willing to sit down and rub my back for a bit could do wonders for my shoulder. I need more local friends....

I'll keep an eye on ticket prices to Fairbanks. :)

What, it's not a quick drive up there? ;)

(Vaguely remembering the combined bus & train ride from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Alaska's an amazingly big state.)

Hee, yeah. I remember reading some article on how everyone should cut back on air travel because it contributes the most to carbon dioxide emissions, and it was talking in fairly harsh tones about Alaskans, "the flyingest people in the US", and I was thinking "Have you ever been here? It's eight hours between our two largest cities. Half our towns don't even have roads, fer chrissakes! Alaska Airlines doesn't exist because flying is a luxury here!"

Oooh, that's a good idea.

Of course, most of my employees are already out for their holiday vacations.

*ponders January massages*

Personally, I'd almost say January or February would be better - those tend to be the months that really get me down, what with the darkness and the cold. Massage combined with full-spectrum light treatment for the SAD sufferers? :)

That would be pretty much my entire office. We already use full-spectrum lighting in the overhead lights, as otherwise the office would be empty for the entirety of February.

...So, how do I get a job there again? :D

Well, for starters, move to Michigan.

Then, agree to be paid crappily in exchange for a lot of non-cash perks like super-flexible scheduling (in general, and officially as well-- we let people take time off when they need/want to, and then our holiday policy is "pick two days next week, take them off as your Christmas time off. Do the same for the next week as your New Year's time off.") and soft drinks and candy bars.

Then, be bright enough to be able to pick up on things. Which does not seem to be a problem for you.

Aw, thanks. :)

Sounds a lot like my last job, which I rather enjoyed (apart from eventually getting to the point where I wasn't doing/learning anything new). I'll keep it in mind, should I move to Michigan. Which I don't see as very likely, but you never know. :)

That's clearly an inadequate massage duration. You should come here and I'll be happy to give you one of decent duration. :)

Of course, the trip here would mean that you'd need a longer massage just to recover. :)

Alternatively, you could get me a massage from the local spa here - they've got some quite excellent therapists on staff. But they tend to run a bit pricey, so I'll understand if you'd rather wait until you had the opportunity yourself. ;)
