Upcoming projects

Autumn always seems to be a transitionary season in my life as well as in the weather, and this year is proving to be no exception.  For instance, in the next few weeks, I am:

• Getting a new tattoo!  I'm super thrilled about the artist I've booked with, too; she does some gorgeous work and (judging by her instagram) is a motorcycle-riding hardcore feminist.  I think we're going to get on great.  Perhaps most tellingly, after looking through her art I have an idea for a third piece...but let's see how we get on in person first, haha.
• Writing a fic for a holiday exchange.  I'm a little apprehensive about this, as I am the Queen of Unfinished Projects (woo for that toxic combination of ambition and perfectionism!), but this is the kind of situation where I tend to have the most success at actually finishing things—when I have a person with a particular set of preferences that I'm writing for, and a hard deadline to hit.  Both of those help keep me focused and away from the "oh but this would be so much better if..." tendencies that tend to strand me out in the weeds.
• Starting my first bout of yoga teacher training as a coach-in-training.  I'm excited about this, but also apprehensive—I want to make this experience memorable and inspirational, but at the same time, I've only been teaching about a year and a half.  Still, that's how you get better—do something for a while, then start teaching others to do it.  I'm hopeful about the experience; I'm lucky enough to be working with a really strong and supportive team, and it's good to feel like it isn't all on me to make it work.  Collaboration!

If everything goes well, Tuesday I get a condo, and maybe I never have to move again if I don't want to. Mom arrives Tuesday for a week of visiting and painting the new place.

The next thing I have to do for martial arts is go to Japan.

I can test for the next certification level in the tracking program soon if I want to.

Irish immersion week next spring! Better be ready.

I am contemplating a motorcycle trip to Denver next summer.

Oh man, has it been a month already? Fingers crossed for Tuesday! (Also, if you haven't read this piece yet, I invite you to do so in the spirit of amusement and wince-inducing anticipation. ;) Also fingers crossed that your mother doesn't drive you too far up your freshly-painted walls, haha.

I'm looking forward to hearing the inevitable entertaining language stories about Irish immersion week and the Japan trip. :) And a motorcycle trip sounds super fun. Someday I'll learn to ride.

I would love to take a class together! Also, I have something I need to mail you...

The pending move cannot fully stop progress on the charity work. I have a resource that's offered to answer any questions I have, and we'll see if they change their mind once they see my list. (Maybe a trip to New York for a face to face would be more productive.)
Other than that, I'm kind of shy on new projects this Autumn.

Yay for external deadlines! The mortal enemy of perfectionism!

Moving seems like a pretty good-size project to have upcoming. And hurrah for progress. :)

I have all the admiration for people writing for fic exchanges--I could never do this! And some stories--the ones people share--are just so imaginative.

Yay for the other developments as well!

As for me, no new undertakings right at the moment. I'm in a retrenching/regrouping phase.
