Upon acceptance

One month of hunting. Four weeks of being uninspired by floor plans that were a hundred variations on the theme of 'box'. One unassuming open house. One single perfect unit. One offer. One escalation clause, when the unit got multiple offers. One letter written to the owners, explaining how upon entering the unit I stopped in my tracks, how it was just right for my home business, how much we would enjoy hosting clients and friends and loved ones. Two days of biting my nails to the quick.
One accepted offer.
One month, approximately, of waiting, and lawyer-hiring, and loan discussions, and home inspection, and closing.
Two years of slightly leaner times while we adjust to the significantly higher monthly payment.
Here's to a decade or more of living in a beautiful, inspiring, perfect-for-us space.

Date: 2018-05-08 01:32 pm (UTC)That thought had occurred to me too, but I'm leaning against it for a few reasons. First off, I want my clients to see that gorgeous staircase/skylight/chandelier combo when they walk in; it's really the place's big jaw-dropping feature. Even aside from the vanity of it, when someone's coming in for a very personal service, beautiful surroundings can be a big help in putting them at ease. Second, the second bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, and the laundry's there too, which makes stripping sheets and popping them into the wash a cinch. And third, I'm greedy and want the fireplace and giant walk-through closet space in the master bedroom for myself. :)
