Well, my computer screen is having loads of fun messing with me, I think...either that or it's really broken. Juneau-Brian seems to think that the problem is with the video card overheating - quite possible, given that it'll usually work fine for ten or fifteen minutes before it starts flickering, and then another ten minutes or so before the colors start getting wonky. Plus my past problems with the computer overheating and shutting off have been making a minor comeback. However, I think there's also a problem with the connection cord - it was doing all sorts of strange flicker patterns at one point, which look almost exactly like what happened when my mother's old laptop got its cord fractured. Who knows, maybe it's both. It's not like I've exactly been really kind to my poor old computer. =(

Hopefully it'll last long enough (or I'll be able to borrow someone's external monitor long enough) for me to back everything up to CD-R. There's some stuff on there I'd rather not lose.

Juneau-Brian's going to open it up and see if he can't figure out what the problem(s) is/are...unfortunately, laptops aren't really designed to be opened and I doubt it'll be very sturdy afterwards, but if it's between that and not having a working computer...*shrug*

If it's not fixable, it's hardly the end of the world, though. As

eventhewaves can attest, this is hardly a computer-starved campus, and Juneau-Brian may be able to get me a relatively inexpensive replacement. (It's not like I use half the power my current computer has, anyway.) So, we'll see.

In more fun news, I gave Juneau-Brian an earring this weekend. He apparently had his ear pierced at one point and hadn't used the hole for a year or so, but it was only slightly healed over, so I got one of my pointy earrings and punched through it again. I had a hunch that he'd look really good with a little silver hoop earring, and I personally think it looks fabulous on him. But I'm posting a picture so everyone can judge for themselves. ;)
