Two days in a row now, I've had someone find The Rebel Bartender through the search "james bond martini recipe". I wonder if it's the same person, or just a particularly popular search?

Maybe I should reference pop culture icons more often...

You definitely should reference pop culture icons and non-icons more often. Mentioning that a particular recipe or type of recipe was used in something in popular culture would be useful search engine optimisation as well as possibly interesting for readers.

I figured I could count on you to give me the entrepreneurial spin. :) Guess it's time to write up a post on the Cosmo...sigh...

You could find anticultural icons as well... everyone writes about what's trendy, and everyone wants to know the classics, but there seems like there's a third aspect there that could attract the tougher to get crowd and provide a nice perk for the more mundane readers as well.

I dunno. Referencing obscure Swedish metal bands is veering a little too close to "hipster" territory for me. :D

Oh please. Swedish metal bands are so yesterday.
There's this great Norwegian black metal Sinatra tribute band I found, they're called "My Way Involves Painful Death and Unending Tragedy". Or that's the translation at least.
