Been trying to keep the political stuff to a relative minimum, considering that (1) I have very little to say that someone else hasn't said already, and (2) most of the people who read this will already agree, anyway. But I came up with an idea while discussing things with Monica today that I just have to share.
Look at the last couple of elections. In 2000, we had a dumbass vs. a dude with no charisma at all. In 2004, we had pretty much the same....Kerry was a bit better than Gore, but not too much. And really, most of the people who don't follow politics probably couldn't tell the difference between them, so the dumbass coasted through on the incumbency advantage (albeit much more closely than most presidents). After these last two, I think we all deserve a can't-lose election. And it's about time we got a woman or a minority group member in there, anyway. Fortunately, we just happen to have two candidates who fit the bill and both have *sense*.
On that note, I hereby nominate Colin Powell for the Republican ticket and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic ticket in 2008.
