missroserose | Getting dressed, then and now

Back in the day, I used to have a thing for vaguely-gothic clothing. Given that I lived in Alaska, I didn't get much of a chance to get formally dressed up - I never had the patience for all that makeup every day, and there weren't that many real events worth the bother for. But I did have an awesome long black coat (that I'm now kicking myself for getting rid of, but that's moving for you) and some nice form-fitting stretch velvet.

While I haven't worn goth-y stuff every day for a while, I do still have a few pieces in my wardrobe that I haven't gotten rid of. So when we were invited to a goth night at one of the clubs in Tucson by some friends, I jumped at the chance to get dressed up again.

I was putting together an outfit just now, and slipped on a clingy stretch-velvet minidress. Examining my silhouette in the mirror, it struck me that something didn't look right. And after a couple of minutes of contemplation, I figured out what's different from the last time I got similarly dressed.

Now, I have hips.

Who says getting older is all bad?
