I wish to inform the world at large that Watchmen has officially ruined Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" for me. Whenever I'm watching a different show, and they start playing some version of it, even if it's a beautifully tragic moment, all I can see is Nite Owl and Silk Spectre soft-core dry-humping to it as my regard for the movie shrivels into dust. (Which is a shame, because there were several quite good bits, but that scene has played a major role in my not wanting to watch it again.)

Also, I hate those days when I feel trapped but of course can't go anywhere because wherever I go I can't get out of my head.

Augh.

I was pretty drunk when I saw that movie. (To give you an idea - my friend was in IRC the next day and said "Has anyone seen Dan yet today? I think we broke him.") I do remember that scene though. The song doesn't make me think of it though.

I think it was approaching cliché even before Watchmen -- I know I ran across it on The West Wing and House and at least one other place, and it's really unfortunate that it became Hollywood shorthand for "this scene is very poignant."

But God, yes, that scene in Watchmen was simply embarrassing. Christ, any other song -- even abject silence -- would've been an improvement.

Yeah, I think that's part of it too - shame, 'cos it's a good song, but it's been so overused at this point that it's just a bit eyerolling.
