Why 2024 will be like 1984, or, Why (As Cool As They Are) I Won't Be Buying A Kindle For Some Time

You *could* always buy one of the other eBook readers that aren't quite so intimately tethered. Sony, for example, can't delete books in that way, nor can Bookeen, nor iRex, nor... well, *any* eBook manufacturer other than Amazon.

Hee. I know, although (actually) a large part of what I find so cool about the Kindle is how it's an instant connection to Wikipedia anytime (I'm a huge trivia junkie). But for this and several other reasons, I don't really want to buy one; and frankly I far prefer reading physical books anyway. Although I'll happily admit that they take up a lot more backpack space on a flight. :)

Physical books are good and much more likely to survive reading in a nice bath or ho tub. :)

Have to love the choice of works to pick for this incident. Couldn't get any better even with a deliberate set up.

Isn't it hilarious? Some part of me wonders if it *was* an intentional setup by an Amazon employee (or perhaps even a bootlegger) who wanted to bring to light a potential flaw in the system, and knew that the inherent irony would mean the blogs would be all over it. :)
