I just want to note for the record that I went to the dentist today. Voluntarily.

And I only have one tooth with a previous filling that needs fixing.

And no new cavities. I don't think I've ever been to the dentist and had no new cavities before.

I feel quite happy about this. Although I'm trying to ignore the sneaking suspicion that the reason I have no new cavities is that (at this point) my teeth have more filling material than enamel in them...

You have crossed over the line of no return, and soon your mouth will join the ranks of the cyborg soldiers. Crush the humans!

Yeah...for the first 23 or so years of my life, I didn't floss and barely even brushed. It didn't help that my previous dentists were almost universally the preachy asshole types. Fortunately, I found one I liked a couple years ago, who basically just sat me down and explained to me that I had the teeth of someone twice my age and that if things didn't change I'd probably need dentures by the time I was 40. So he patched my mouth up (over the course of about six months' worth of appointments), and I did my part and started flossing every night, and apparently it's worked. Which is why I'm minorly proud of myself. :)

Yeah, my problems are poor brushing habits and weakened enamel (which stems from a clenching problem that wasn't addressed until about a year or two ago). So I have about... thirteen fillings, three of which are in the back of my front two teeth. :/ Plus I think I need to have my wisdom teeth removed.

Thirteen fillings? Pah! That's easy. I've had so many over the course of my life I've lost count. :)

Much sympathy on the wisdom teeth, though. Having mine out was an absolute nightmare - I went through an entire Costco-sized bottle of ibuprofen before the month was out. Mine were pretty nastily impacted, however, so yours might not be so bad.

Thus do all reap the benefits of unfluoridated water.

Nah, my bad teeth are my own damn fault (story above). I didn't even live in a place with unfluoridated water until a couple years ago.
