Well... I don't use facebook but the random crap that ends up in my email inboxes is still rather amusing. Grats on the engagement by the by, as I missed the initial post the other day. Quite honestly, if you want to have a fairly inexpensive wedding? There are dresses by Casablanca Bridal that would look amazing on you and they're reasonably priced; also, the wedding shop (I think they're out by Reliable Sheet Metal these days) is a retailer of theirs so you can get the dress ordered rather easily. And for cakes? Make your own, or request something super simple from one of the stores in town, instead of going for the marzipan and fondandt. I have a LOT of stuff from when I was working on planning mine, still have all the magazines and clippings and the like. It was less expensive than grabbing a planner and after all, it is YOUR day, so, do what you feel. Feel free to drop me an email or whatnot if you want me to pull out any of the old clippings so I can send the info to you. Again, grats :)
