Hm, it's coming up fine on mine, but I'm hotlinking from Google Ads so it might not work properly. One sec and I'll change the hosting.

Ahh. Well, if you didn't already know, the whole character premise of House is that he's an asshole. Brilliant, but an asshole. One of the things I like most about the show is that the writers have avoided giving him a soft squishy center underneath the prickliness - he's a bastard through and through. But even if you don't particularly like him, you have to respect his intellect, and you sometimes envy his ability to say things you wish you could. It's a tricky role to play, and there's a reason Hugh Laurie's gotten so much acclaim for it. (That, and the fact that from watching the show you would never guess he normally has a British accent that's broader than the side of a barn.)

So, yes. Definitely a show worth watching. And that's why the ad's funny. :D

*laughs* Yeah, me too. I was so used to seeing him in BlackAdder that it was a bit of an adjustment not only for his accent, but in how grizzled and old he looks.

...Unless you're Mira Sorvino or Sela Ward, of course.... (Not that I can blame him.)

And give the wording of that ad, all I could think about was the Freudian typo from the AP the other day....

I thought Laurie and his musical talent were used to good effect in Peter's Friends, which is always worth a watch or re-watch. Laurie, Fry, Branaugh, Thompson, Slattery, Staunton....
