Today, I'm emptying my spam folder, and I've apparently got hit with a new strain: Depressing News Updates spam. According to the subject lines flooding said folder: a new strain of AIDS was discovered in Africa, North Korea has declared nuclear capability, and someone's assassinated Barack Obama.

...I'm sure glad I don't live in Spam-World. Giant penises and low-rate mortgages aside, it sounds like a pretty depressing place.

Yeah, I've gotten a few of those -- I'm kind of disappointed that they're not elaborately random enough to be entertaining. Then there'd suddenly be a point to spam. And I'm impressed by the lengths some spammers go to for lurid headlines, too.

(My last attempt at a random newspaper is a bit broken, now (and old), thanks to the publication in question migrating to a cookie-cutter database-driven site. Hrm. Maybe I should randomize CNN....)

I heard about the Spam King. It sounds like he'd had a history of mental health issues, but I feel sorry that his family got dragged into it. Especially his three-year-old daughter. Jesus.
