...I shouldn't be finding this anywhere near as arousing as I am, should I?

(Link potentially NSFW. Not explicit, just...*coughs* Blatant.)

...time to stock up on some more batteries...

I have a self-imposed prohibition against online gaming since the BF1942 demo sorta devoured me alive, but I'm considering breaking down and buying the Orange Box for HL2E2 and TF2. If TF2 is half as engaging as everyone keeps telling me it is, though, I might be hard-pressed to go to work again.

Speaking of hard-pressed (ba-dum-ching), I just remember seeing The Naked Gun in the theater and the look on Ed's face when he picked up the, er, toy with the chainsaw motor and the sound effect which I'm sure had to go on that foley artist's résumé....

I can't say much about TF2, since I haven't actually played myself, but I've watched Brian play and it appears to be a very well-done game. The Incredibles-esque art style is a nice touch - makes it less visceral and more humorous when your character gets blown to pieces (occasionally the game will helpfully add an arrow pointing to "Your spleen" or some such just afterward, which always gives me the giggles).

One of the things I particularly like about it is the way each class is given his own personality, as seen in both in-game comment style and in the "Meet the..." videos (which I highly recommend looking up on YouTube if you've not seen them - my favorite is "Meet the Engineer"). It makes the dynamics between the characters, such as they are, rather more interesting - as well as making for some awesome fanart. ;)

I do love those "Meet the..." videos -- the cell-shading style I never would've thought to work in this age of higher resolutions and massive textures, but it's the atmosphere that really works for it. Much the same as Portal, really -- it's less about one single element and more about how all of them fit around a whole.

Now, if only it were a gender-equitable assortment, it'd be more, ah, enthralling for those of us on the other side of the street. (I did accidentally find Rule 34 Portal art once. I remember thinking first "Wow, I didn't even think about that" and then immediately "Wait, I'm at work! ALT-F4! ALT-F4!")

Ah, Rule 34, the internet and their combined efforts to endlessly demonstrate the infinite variety of human preferences, often upon unsuspecting victims. How we love thee.

I hear you on the gender-equitableness, and I've seen several efforts to remedy that issue. However, I think one artist brings up a pretty good point on the reason why TF2's statistics are skewed the way they are (http://alciha.deviantart.com/art/Heavy-Weapons-Girl-87684513)...in the commentary for a rather amusing bit of artwork, no less. (Don't worry - this one's perfectly SFW. ;)

Both.

And Brian's favorite class.
