That's a very cute picture. Then again, I'm a sucker for a lady with glasses and a book.

Aw, thanks. (You should read the book! It's good! ;)

Indeed, it's an excellent picture, yes.

I have to admit, your icon gives me doubts as to whether to accept your comment at face value...=)

Ha! I hadn't noticed. (I was under/overmedicated at the time.) No, that icon I tend to use for genuine admiration; this icon I reserve for more sarcastic posts. But this isn't one of them. Really.

There are many worthwhile targets of scorn on the Internets, but that pic is made of win and yes.

My name is Flewellyn, and I approve this message.

But your name isn't actually Flewellyn. Does that mean your approval is equally illusionary?

You should read the book, y'know. ;)

What, Ishmael? I will! I gotta finish "Lies Across America" first!

But I really do like the pic.

Actually, I was referring to "The Name of the Wind". Since the entire point of the picture is to promote its paperback release. ;)

I'm glad you like the picture.

So if this is you with a few worrisome extra pounds on? I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

That's sweet of you, but since you haven't seen me naked, I think I get to be the judge of this one. =D

Well, I'm not, unless "secretly brainwashing the masses into reading a most excellent fantasy novel" counts. ;) But then, don't I always look like I'm up to something?

Ya, you do...

No, that's very definitely naughty librarian, no matter how demure the outfit may be. :D

I know! *cries* I'm working on it, I promise!

However, one of the books I ordered for you (way back when) got cancelled because Amazon didn't have it in stock. Hmp. Will have to pick moar. ;)

Oh, don't worry about it. I haven't even gotten to Tamsin yet - been busy reading Harry Dresden and The Other Boleyn Girl. =)

*laughs* I read the first one on a recommendation, thought it was okay, went ahead and read the second just for kicks...and suddenly I'm six books in. It's not like they're great literature or even hugely substantial, but they're so consistently entertaining that it's hard to stop. They're like the Hershey's Chocolate of novels.

Yeah, that's about the long and the short of it.

And if I had such powers, I would totally cause Thomas to come to life and have a thing for you. Because for some reason he completely strikes me as your type. (But then, maybe I'm wrong and you aren't into rich beautifully sculpted flirtatious psy-vamp types...)

I'm currently reading the ENTIRE Amber series. Quite slowly too, I might add, but I'm enjoying it all the same. I'm also taking moments to read snippets from Richard Bach's One and Jonathan Livingston Seagull and hopefully when I'm done with the Amber series, I can go re-read the Dragonbone Chair trilogy by Tad Williams and find the sequel to his book Shadowmarch.
But when I'm all done with that, I'll go find a copy of that book and read through it.
On a side note, I need to have my roommate take a picture of me with my reading glasses on; they're rather spiffy and I keep meaning to show them off to people I know, to get their opinions on them.

Wow, that's a bit of a list. I read Bach's "The Bridge Across Forever" as a teen and enjoyed it muchly, although in the interests of fair disclosure I was much more of a romantic back then. =)

I do very highly recommend The Name of the Wind - it's a bit long, but doesn't have that awful repetitive padded feel that so many brick-sized fantasies do. So if you get around to reading it, let me know your thoughts. And I'd love to see your reading glasses.

Beautiful picture, Rose. Makes me want to read some more... alas, so little time time.

I third rapier's comment.

But then, we know you are always up to something. ;)

Whee! Fashionably late, as always.

I'm the photographer for this one, and I'm pretty happy how it came out. I took about a dozen pictures while we were out trying to get something useful - this was by far the best.

I'm intrigued that people (on the Facebook site at least) seem to consider the vent a halo - guess it goes to show how people's perceptions change what they see. Me, I hate that the vent is there - I think it's distracting (but way less so than in some of the other photos), and I'm not nearly good enough to Photoshop the whole mess out.

But what do I know? :) I'm thrilled folk like the picture. And yes, she IS always up to something...

Yeah, I'm torn on the vent. I'd love it if it were less intrusive, but it's not. And so I'm all ambivalent.
