Well, to be fair, Monday's only just started. But it's been an inauspicious beginning.
Specifically, thanks to a snowstorm that shows no signs of letting up, my car was buried to the bumpers and unable to get out into the street this morning. Not that getting into the street would've done any good, as it hadn't been plowed at all, and the city plows that had done North Douglas Highway had put a pretty good berm in our intersection that morning. Brian's talking about getting financing for a Subaru, which isn't an entirely unattractive option, though the most logical follow-up would be selling my car. And I don't wanna sell my car - I'm already two years into paying it off. :( But if the other option is having to hitchhike into work on snowy mornings, well...
Fortunately we got a ride in from David, though I'm not sure how we're getting back, especially since we're expecting another eight inches of snow. I'm sure some option will present itself.

Date: 2008-02-04 10:21 pm (UTC)Also, something to consider, while not "shiny and new," is an old gen Subaru - a late 80s wagon, lifted, with a limited slip in the rear, will go through damn near anything. The running commentary on Subarus, old ones specifically (better ground clearance, less to break) is "If you get it stuck, you'd better have a shovel, because nobody is getting out there to pull you out."
You should be able to get a good condition old gen Subie, lifted, for around $2000.
