Our cat has never resorted to the softball bat, but that's probably because I discovered long ago it's easier to simply get up and feed her and hope she'll let me go back to sleep in peace (which she nearly always does).

*laughs* Mr. Jerry Brown (http://roseneko.livejournal.com/131256.html) will do the *kneadpurrkneadpurr* bit, which is no small deal considering that he has one of the loudest purrs I've ever heard. Dexter (http://roseneko.livejournal.com/113872.html) does the "put paw on face/headbutt chin" bit when he thinks we've slept too long. Brian and I are big ones for sleeping in; I'm convinced that the only reason they haven't resorted to the bat is their lack of thumbs. =D
