Sep. 12th, 2007 09:46 amIt's been a while since there was a movie I was really anticipating - I think Serenity was the last. Sure, there've been several new ones since then that I've enjoyed, and at least one that surprised me by how jaw-droppingly awesome it was. But on the whole, it's fairly rare that I see some of the advance buzz for a movie and get seriously excited about seeing it.
There are exceptions to every rule, however. And in this case, it seems that there are several elements coming together in conjunction to create what looks to be, for me anyway, an awesome movie:
--Tim Burton, especially his gothic-storybook visual style
--Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman
--Macabre and twisted story elements and humour
--It's a musical!
--December 21st release date, just in time to counteract all that pesky holiday cheer
Suffice it to say, I think Brian and I've figured out what we're going to be doing on Christmas:

I really can't wait.
