--Went to the JoAnn's sale on Saturday, and nabbed ten different Simplicity patterns for a buck apiece. Highlights include a rather versatile costume pattern (french maid/Red Riding Hood/saloon girl/nurse/etc.), a fairly simple jogging/exercise suit that might come in handy sometime next month (more on that in a minute), male and female Scottish Highlander costumes (reason? What reason? They're cool patterns, dammit!), a couple of really nice dresses, and a pretty shirt. I also managed to nab some absolutely gorgeous navy blue taffeta with a darker blue velvet vine pattern on it for $2.50 a yard...God, I love craft store sales.

Now for the Butterick/McCall's 99 cent pattern sale on Thursday...

--If anyone has been subjected to repeated listening of Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" on the radio or whatever, I highly recommend you find a copy of Weird Al's "A Complicated Song", from his new album "Poodle Hat". I don't think I've laughed so much since I first heard "Jerry Springer". (Other highlights from the album include "Ode to a Superhero" and his Backstreet Boys parody, "eBay".)

--It's absolutely amazing how much junk one can collect when one lives in a consumeristic society. I mean, honestly, how many clothes/candle holders/books/CD's/incense burners/pieces of lingerie/Playstation games do I really *need*?

*Grumbles something about eBaying habits*

--Colds suck in general. They suck even more when you're trying to maintain a twenty-minute-per-day-vocal-practice regimen, but can't because you sound like a lemming crawled down your throat and died.

--Speaking of singing, I finally got teacher permission to take voice lessons. The only problem was, the time she had open was right during the lab course I'd planned to take. So I ended up dropping it (not really a big deal, considering that I was waitlisted anyway), but that took me down to 11 credits...so now I'm taking Beginning Yoga on Wednesday mornings. It was one of the few one-credit courses that seemed at all useful for my current career choice...I figure the whole balance/flexibility/strength will stand me in good stead once I start taking dance lessons. And the relaxation bit won't hurt, either.

Plus it gives me an excuse to make that nifty exercise suit thingy. I'm thinking a nice, semi-thick periwinkle velour with darker purple pockets...*grin*

--Finally got all the pieces cut out for the shirt I'm making Ian for his birthday. Meant to do that a couple of days ago, but this stupid cold had me in bed most of the last couple of days. Hopefully Ryan'll show me the ropes on his mother's old sewing machine tomorrow so I can get to work on it...and yes, a condition of this gift will be that I get to take pictures of him in it, so I'll be sure to post a few.

--Wooden chairs are not fun to sit on for long periods of time. I've probably forgotten a couple of things, but my arse says I'm out of here, now. So I'll see you all later.
