So I'm going through a name/address/gender/DOB list of people who've purchased hunting and fishing licenses here in AK as one of the random duties that I get assigned as part of my job. The idea is to delete duplicate addresses so each household only gets one of whatever it is we're sending out. Since it's usually the head of household who makes decisions related to hunting trips, my instructions are to leave the name of the eldest person (male, if ages are close) on the list. A couple of amusing things I've noticed:

--There are some really funky street names out there. "Battery Bend Way"? "Frog Eye Road"? "Blandford Road" - why would anyone want to live there? "Pirate's Point Road" - I want to live there! And, yes, there actually is a "Memory Lane" out there. Probably more than one.

--Going through a bunch of addresses in Massachusetts, I'm noticing a disproportionate number of couples with the same address, similar ages, and the same gender. Amusing, as well as awesome, even if it does make my job a little more difficult.

--While the majority of couples with the same address are still husband/wife or father/son, I'm noticing a number of father/daughter, mother/daughter, and mother/son couples, too. That's awesome, as well.

Here's hoping people continue to be more comfortable with people in "nontraditional" roles...
