One 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, in very good shape, 86,000 miles. Well-maintained and loved for the last year and a half (and will be missed fondly...); very good winter car with lots of nifty extras: keyless entry, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, etc. Looking for good owner; asking price $3500 but am willing to negotiate.

Anyone local, please pass the word along if you know someone who might be interested and who would treat her well...

Thanks. :) After researching it probably more obsessively than is good for me, I decided that it was too good of a deal to pass up. But I've been very honest with myself - I don't *need* a new car, I just want one. And I figure this way I'll have a five-year plan - I take five years to pay off the car and save money with my current job, and then I see if I want to go back to college. 'Cuz I'm pretty sure Brian will want to move back to Spokane or something by then.

And in the meantime, I'll have a really nifty newish car to drive around. :)

Of course, this is all assuming I can sell my car...

It did sounds like a good deal. How long was your previous car on the lot before you bought it? That should give you some idea of likely selling time.

Not having learned to drive my appreciation for the finer points of car ownership is somewhat limited but I can appreciate the desire to have a nice, newish and fun car. :)

The Brian (or you) want to do something in the way of moving scenario sounds likely.

I'm currently in "save for house or apartment buying" mode. Hopefully the latter within a year or so. Not impressed by apartment prices in this area, though. They have doubled in the last five years.:)

And obsessive applies to my calculating the financial options and implications.:)

I think it was on the lot for a month or two. I put an ad in the paper but haven't gotten any calls, so I'm probably just going to keep my ear to the ground. I have a couple of friends who've been having car issues, so I might offer to sell her to them...

You live in NYC? Ouch, both with regards to driving and housing expenses. Still, though, an apartment in NYC can be a real moneymaker, provided you're not paying more than the rent is worth keeping it livable. :)

Yeah, now if I can just find someone to buy her so I can pay Brian back, since he's fronting my down payment and insurance...:s

I'm sure you'll be fine, good for him though. =)
