All right! Perseverance Theatre is bringing back Hedwig and the Angry Inch for this season, and they're staging it at Marlintini's - which aside from being right down the street from our neighborhood, means they'll have more space and a better sound system to play with. Given what a dynamite production this was last year (they were playing to sold-out crowds even at the end of the week that they extended its run), I really can't wait to see it again this year. I rented the movie version last year after seeing the show, and was actually a bit disappointed - while it was interesting, it seemed kind of laconic in comparison, and the song arrangements were much more classic rock-ish. I don't know how they do it elsewhere, but at the show here, they gave the songs (and the band itself) much more of a punk edge, and they have a good five times as much energy as they do in the movie.

In any case, I'm not sure how I'm going to afford it after coming back from vacation, but I'm definitely going to see it at least twice, including the last showing taking place at midnight. And if anyone on my friends list feels like visiting Juneau, now's the time - hotels are pretty inexpensive, and this is really an awesome production.

Now to see if I still fit in my leather corset and pants...
