Winter crud

Ever heard the song "The Cat Came Back"? We used to sing it in school, it was about a cat that just wouldn't go away; whatever the cat's owner did to it, the cat came back the very next day. It's kind of a fun little song.

Except I have some sort of winter crud like that right now, complete with recurrence of the sinus infection that I had a couple of weeks ago. And it's a lot like that cat - no matter what I do to fight it, it keeps coming back the next day. I can spend the day at work popping painkillers, or I can spend the day at home sleeping and popping vitamins and whatnot - either way, I wake up in the morning feeling awful. I usually feel better later in the day even if I don't do anything, but overnight it respawns and all I want to do when I get up is go back to bed. *sigh* I ended up taking today off work just to give it one more go-round with the vitamins and rest and whatnot. The cold part of it seems to be mostly gone, but my sinuses have been aching pretty fiercely, and none of the vitamins and salt water and acidophilus and whatever else I've been taking seems to be doing much to help. I guess that's what ibuprofen's for...

As much as I hate antibiotics, if this sinus thing recurs again after my insurance kicks in, I am so going to the doctor for some to take it out. Bitch, you are going down.

I love that song. I haven't seen that little cartoon in simply ages. Sorry about the sick -- that's never pleasant.

Are you referring to the little Canadian cartoon they made out of the song? I think I saw it once on Cartoon Network, but I don't remember much about it except it was on their "O Canada" segment and it made me laugh.

I don't know if it was Canadian or what, but it has to be at least... 10 or 15 years old. I seem to remember it was a really simple animation. Solid colors for backgrounds, stylized city and suburb environments and cats, squiggly black lines. And something about a hot air balloon. Perhaps.

I remember the hot air bit from the song - it's the one verse I can remember. Something like, "He gave the cat to a man in a balloon/The man said he'd try to drop the cat off on the moon/The balloon came down the very next day/What happened to the man I really couldn't say, but/The cat came back..."

Y'know, it strikes me that I could probably look the song up on Google and find all the verses I sang in school and more besides. But it's so much more fun to fuzzily recall all those elementary-school singalongs...:)
