You know, I really can't say much about the last receptionist they had here, as I didn't know her, but one thing I can say with certainty - when it came to filing, she was probably smoking crack. For some reason she decided that all the work orders needed to be filed in reverse order, with the most recent ones at the back. This seems a bit illogical, considering that if there's one you need to reference it's probably going to be a fairly recent one, but I could forgive it if that was all there was - everyone has their own system. However, what really impresses me is the way the most commonly used files are done - or not done, as might be more accurate. There seems to be almost no rhyme or reason to how the workorders are put in the files; they seem to be more or less stuck in at random. I mean, this goes beyond just not caring and into the realm of "actively malignant". Not that I'm complaining, exactly; I guess it just amazes me that anyone who apparently cared so little about their job didn't just go find another one...
Ah, well. Gives me something to do in the afternoons. =)
