Good news and middle-of-the-road news...

missroseroseFirst, the good news - I got a call from Perseverance yesterday, and they apparently want me for the chorus in King Island Christmas. I'd be more disappointed about not getting a solo, but considering that [a] there's only one female solo and [b] a good 80% of the production is chorus work, I'm not going to complain. Anyway, at least now I don't have to go find a second job and save for college again. :)
As for other things in the work world, though...I've always prided myself on being able to do (or learn to do) just about anything, but I think I'm going to be giving up this receptionist gig pretty soon. It's not a bad job, but I think a large part of why I'm not happy with it is personality-related. That, and quite frankly, the folks I work for are very good at running a veterinary practice but not so good at managing their employees. I think a lot of that has to do with how they've only recently gone from a relatively small and informal practice into a much larger building with more employees and a somewhat more professional atmosphere, and they're still trying to work things out; it seems like they expect me to know a lot of things intuitively that I just...don't.
In any case, I'm looking for something different. I had an application in for an administrative assistant position over at Juneau Wholesale but I haven't heard back from them. I also put in an application online for a law office assistant position (the posting said that they'd train), but that's really kind of a faint hope - while I do think it would be a better mesh, personality-wise, I somehow doubt my resumé is going to impress them much. Also, there was an ad in the paper yesterday for a receptionist over at Jeffus & Williams (same place Brian works)...assuming they don't have any issues with the fact that we live together, that could be fun. They'd probably pay a bit more than the vet clinic and I get the feeling I'd have a bit more independence too. (For some reason the ad's not there today...I hope it doesn't mean that they've filled the position already, especially since yesterday was the ad's first appearance.)
Anyway, I'm off to go pay my dentist's bill and drop off a resumé at J&W. Wish me luck, everyone...
