Mmm...cherries.
Jun. 16th, 2005 09:46 amLast few days have been pretty hectic, thanks to my mother being here visiting. It's been fun taking her out to all the places in town that I like to hang out at - Pel'Meni, Doc Waters, the Heritage Café, the Southeast Waffle Company - and introducing her to the people I talk about. And I think she about singlehandedly stimulated the Juneau economy for a few days with all the stuff she bought Brian and I for our apartment. Pictures of newly refurbished bathroom (yay butterflies!) and posters forthcoming, whenever I dig out my camera. (The tradeoff to all of this was that I had to be up at 4:30 this morning to take her to the airport, a time when no sane person should be awake, let alone cheerful. My mother was both. But then, she always has been the penultimate morning person, and I suppose it depends on one's definition of "sane"...)
My mother also took Brian and I to an acupressurist of her acquaintance whose office is here in Juneau. I'm not sure exactly how the whole thing works, but he managed to get my shoulder muscles to relax (a minor feat in and of itself) and to get Brian's carpal tunnel to quit acting up. (This being after several forms of physical therapy did nothing.) Brian's still unsure as to whether it was just the placebo effect, or what, but I figure, hey - if it works, great. It's certainly better than surgery. So we'll probably be going back to see him again...
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how one looks at it) I wasn't able to get an appointment for my wisdom teeth - Monday and Wednesday were booked solid with both the oral surgeons in town. However, I managed to convince Tracy to give me Friday the 24th off, and I've got an appointment then. I honestly can't say I'm looking forward to it, though it'll be a relief to get it done. Brian's promised to take the day off so he can take care of me. Hopefully it won't be too unpleasant.
Meantime, after scientific-type munching, I have come to the scientific conclusion that Rainier cherries are simply superior to Bing cherries, even when the latter are on sale for less than half the price. Firmer, sweeter without being too-sweet, and prettily colored, you just can't do better.
And off I go to clean up the house...or maybe just relax and play Knights of the Old Republic for a while.

Nah, in my experience having wisdom teeth pulled isn't that bad. I'm not too sure how you're planning on doing it, but I was basically drugged to the point I couldn't move, knocked out, placed on bed rest for several days afterwards and stuffed to semi-coherency on pain-killers. To be fair though, my recolections are a little hazy. But really, it wasn't that bad (I do tend to remember blinding pain and such, and I don't recall any such thing happening). Plus you've got Brian to look after you, you'll be fine.
*chuckles* I'll have to remember that.
You know the call of KOTOR is too strong. *grins*
