They printed my letter in the local paper. Seems to be almost something of an achievement, given the topic and the general political climate in Alaska...

Here's the link if anyone's interested in reading it. Background - someone wrote to the Empire claiming that a teenager they knew had gone to a Planned Parenthood booth and gotten a condom and information about abortion and birth control without (gasp!) being asked if she was married or whether her parents knew she was there. And of course, he pulls out the "Is this what we want for our children?" line...

Well said. Way too many people want the problem of the potential, hrm, 'fallout' (by which I mean unplanned pregnancy, disease, and anything else) from teenage (and, let's face it, adult) sex to go away without their current 'keep it buried away and never talk' attitudes having to change.
