Oct. 18th, 2004 12:04 amLoving someone really sucks.
When you love someone and are intimate with them, it hurts. It hurts because you feel open and vulnerable, and you just know that, one day or another, intentionally or not, the other person's going to stomp all over that vulnerable part with iron-shod shoes.
Why? Because we're human, and that's what we do. We hurt people. We don't always mean to (though sometimes we do), but we fuck up and we hurt people. We either do something stupid, or refuse to do something that needs to be done, and we hurt each other.
And it really, really fucking hurts.
I can only hope that that vulnerable part will thicken over, eventually...

Date: 2004-10-18 02:01 am (UTC)I've been saying that it's our nature to fuck it all up for a really, really long time.
Sorry everything isn't as happy as it might be, I know the pain well... :(

Date: 2004-10-18 11:07 am (UTC)Is that quote on your Firefly icon from Angel? It sounds more like a line that Angel would deliver than Reynolds. Like that "we live as if the world were as it should be, to show it how it ought to be" line about champions.

Date: 2004-10-18 03:31 pm (UTC)I'll just leave it at: Look at the numbers, take a random group of people, from just about anywhere, and look at their actions for 24 hours. How many times did they do something truly selfless, something for the benifit of someone else, wherein they themselves loose out. Now look at how often they do purely selfish things, without a single thought or concern for anyone other than themselves...
I'm sorry, it's a matter of numbers...
