Loving someone really sucks.

When you love someone and are intimate with them, it hurts. It hurts because you feel open and vulnerable, and you just know that, one day or another, intentionally or not, the other person's going to stomp all over that vulnerable part with iron-shod shoes.

Why? Because we're human, and that's what we do. We hurt people. We don't always mean to (though sometimes we do), but we fuck up and we hurt people. We either do something stupid, or refuse to do something that needs to be done, and we hurt each other.

And it really, really fucking hurts.

I can only hope that that vulnerable part will thicken over, eventually...

Did you hurt, or were you hurt?

Both, really.

Which is about the worst place you can be...

Don't have to tell me, I understand what evils really lurk in the heart of men (or women for that matter?).

I've been saying that it's our nature to fuck it all up for a really, really long time.

Sorry everything isn't as happy as it might be, I know the pain well... :(

It doesn't matter who actually did the hurting because if one person hurts in the relationship, then so does the other. I experienced this for myself back in August. I was hurt by my partner and I thought I felt the most pain, but then I realized that he hurt just as much as I did. Communication is vital. Make sure you openly and honestly talk through how you both feel. It's the only way you'll get through the hurt and move on.

You're very right, and thank you for the advice. That's essentially what we did, this morning...I'll get into that in the next entry, which is proving rather difficult to write. :s

You truly think that *gulp* humanity's true nature is pain and suffering? Or just these days?

Is that quote on your Firefly icon from Angel? It sounds more like a line that Angel would deliver than Reynolds. Like that "we live as if the world were as it should be, to show it how it ought to be" line about champions.

I've been told that it's from "Angel", but it fits Malcolm's character very well.

How can it be denied?

I was just about to launch into a rather long (and old) rant about what we do to each other.

I'll just leave it at: Look at the numbers, take a random group of people, from just about anywhere, and look at their actions for 24 hours. How many times did they do something truly selfless, something for the benifit of someone else, wherein they themselves loose out. Now look at how often they do purely selfish things, without a single thought or concern for anyone other than themselves...

I'm sorry, it's a matter of numbers...

You don't have to tell me that it hurts, I already know. I just don't usually scream it to the world though.
Sorry that you're in that nasty in-between spot. Hope it gets better. ^^
