Today. Rocked.

missroseroseGot together with Lydia this afternoon and we hit JoAnn's...and another 99 cent pattern sale. And the new line of Simplicity winter patterns were in. Oh dear. (Amazingly enough, I managed to limit myself to five of them, though a lot of this might have to do with the rapidly dwindling state of my checking account.) In any case, we went home, and I managed to nearly finish my Halloween costume...which, oddly enough, is from the same pattern as my first project that didn't work out, albeit with different materials. I'm rather happy with how it's come out, all told. Pictures will be coming as soon as my camera battery charges up (we tried taking them this afternoon, but it was dead. Figures).
This evening, we were in the company of Sandra and Jana, both of whom are incredible sci-fi geeks and one of whom (Sandra) had a room with every wall and ceiling and surface covered with various Star Trek/Star Wars memorabilia. I think I went into ferret shock for a moment. Once it wore off, we settled down and watched a few Firefly episodes. All three of the girls seemed amenable to the conversion process, though In Sandra and Jana's case I think it's just going to add on to their already-formidable sci-fi-geekness.
When we went out for a snack run in the middle of it (as Sandra drives a new VW Bug we took my car - slightly roomier backseat), I got to do something that I hadn't done since high school - blast a song on the radio with four people all singing with it and the bass turned all the way up. Specifically, "1985" by Bowling for Soup, which I had heard on the radio before. And if I do say so myself, my car has a pretty damn good sound system. Especially for a ten-year-old vehicle. (And did I mention this was in my car? =D)
Yeah. I managed to have a life today...and for the first time in a goodly while, I actually to enjoyed it.
Go me.
