Well, I've finally got everything moved over to the dorm/apartment and (mostly) unpacked. Unfortunately, the wireless is extremely spotty (the only place I've been able to get coverage is in the middle of the hall, and even that won't connect to the Internet), and there doesn't appear to be a jack for a CAT-5 cable; at least, not in my room. So it's looking like I won't have home internet for a while, though I intend to go talk to the tech support people today and see if there's anything to be done.

Admittedly, it's a fairly nice room - only slightly smaller than a double-size room in Fairbanks, and with an actual closet (gasp!). The apartment itself is nice enough, if a bit impersonal, but since I'm probably going to be hanging out in my room for the most part, I'm not too worried.

Unfortunately, I now have rather a lot of homework to catch up on, including that bloody paper-draft that's due in a week. Blah. And now that Ryan's grandparents are back, I can't run out to McDonald's or Fred Meyer's anytime I want. Double blah. I miss having a car...

Bummer. You would think, however, that the lovely tech support people would know what to do about it -- since, these days, you pretty much need the 'net to do the whole college thing properly. Or maybe that was just HCC. *Shrug* Good luck, anyway.

Bummer, again. And good luck, again. =)

Though you've probably come to this conclusion already, the Apartments do not have wired internet. Purely Wireless. The only way to get access to the 'net is to register your wireless card with the helpdesk. It takes about 48 hours. Call 465-6457, they can do it over the phone.

Uh, Rose, why the hell didn't you ask for help?

You do know, this is exactly the kind of thing I do for a living...
(that being network engineer / hardware engineer)
