All that's left of me...
Mar. 8th, 2004 08:48 pmDay 3 of L.A. Trip
Got a whole bunch of nifty stuff today - a necklace with a gorgeous silver fairy pendant (belated Christmas present from Brian), a couple of nifty clothing items from Out of the Closet Thrift Store (pictures of the sign to be up soon), a pair of knee-high shit-kicker boots with buckles over the lacing, a couple of CD's from Amoeba Music (unfortunately, they didn't have any Dune albums, so I'll have to go to Gemm.com for those), and probably one or two other things I'm not remembering. Gotta love consumerism.
The rental car company fortunately replaced the Suzuki Swift with a Chevy Metro, which looks almost exactly the same but feels much more well-built. So it looks like we'll be making the drive into Richmond/San Fran tomorrow, assuming that Jennifer's parents haven't gone "Ahhhhh! No more young people, please!!"
Most tourist-y thing we did today was go by the famous Chinese Theater and look at handprints, as well as walk up and down Hollywood Blvd and look at the stars. (I found out that my hands are almost the exact size and shape of Marilyn Monroe's. =) It was interesting, looking at the various familiar and unfamiliar names...I found myself wondering what these people were like, what their lives were like behind that public persona. I also found myself wondering if the Barenaked Ladies song "Celebrity" was inspired by that walk - "All that you will see is a celebrity/All that's left of me is my celebrity..."
