More music...
Feb. 20th, 2004 12:13 amLaw of Music #3,285: Americans do not know how to do techno. Germans, on the other hand, know how to do good techno. Very good techno. Groups to peruse, in case you haven't listened: E Nomine, Dune, and whoever the hell it was that did the music for the movie Lola Rennt (a.k.a. Run Lola Run).
Being as I have a little bit of extra money, and have started listening to music more often, I've found myself looking for Dune CD's to buy online. I actually started listening to them three or four years ago, courtesy of the Internet and
taktukbrightsea, who recommended them to me. I've been listening to them on and off ever since, and I figure it's about time I paid them for the privilege.
Unfortunately, being a relatively obscure German band which, for all I know, is no longer in existence, I'm having a damn hard time finding their CD's available for sale. Amazon does have a limited listing, but the only one available for sale is the first album, whereas the one I'm most interested in is their "best of" album, entitled "History," followed by "Expedicion" (okay, so their titles aren't all that creative).
In any case, since I don't usually listen to obscure bands, I have little experience in this area, so...is there anyone out there who can recommend a site where I might be able to find their music (preferably for a reasonable price)?
If nothing else, I suppose I can look for them in Los Angeles...assuming Ryan and I aren't too busy embarassing
eventhewaves by dancing the merengue in the middle of some random Mexican resturaunt. =)

Naturally, m'dear...

See subject. The be-all, end-all of rare CD shopping on the Internet -- for all genres -- is Gemm (http://www.gemm.com). Their prices tend to be a bit on the variable side, and I've never been particularly fond of their layout, but they've got just about everything. Including truck loads of Dune albums, if a search I just ran is any indication...

Yeah. We can brave the eleven miles-and-change trip to Amoeba Music -- the land of plenty -- that takes more than half an hour. The upshot, that which makes such an impressively inconvenient trip worthwhile, is that you might, just might, actually be able to find some Dune albums there. =)
