Trust...

I just had a couple of missionaries (at least, I think they were missionaries, we didn't really get that far) come to the door. To their credit, they took "no" for an answer, and more to their credit, when I first opened the door, they didn't go on a spiel about Jesus Christ being our savior, or whatever the usual opening is. Instead, they said something to the effect of "We're just going around to our neighbors talking about promises. There are a lot of promises in this world that get broken...do you ever wonder whose promises you can trust?" At that point, I said something along the lines of "Not interested, thanks," and they left.

But the advertising-executive side of me has to hand it to them - that's a damn good way to get people interested. Especially in an election year. It seems that a lot of people don't know who to trust. I guess I've just been lucky in that I feel I can trust most of the people in my life...

Or maybe I'm just naïve, for all my usual cynicism. *shrug*

y'know

probably a good call that they're missionaries, probably from the "promise keepers" organization or an outgrowth of such. Good that it went over that well though.

And yes, your an unusually naive cynic. Opinions without so much of the experience. Keeps you out of some trouble though it seems.

You're thinking of going into advertising? It'd make the advertisements more interesting, if nothing else. ^_^

I'd be more worried about the Meow Mix commercials featuring sexy girls in catgirl costumes. It'd make the astronomy videos her company would produce seem tame.
