--Why is a search for "school girl outfit black" bringing up an item described as "World's Smallest Magnetic Card Reader"?

--The end of the world is near. Leg warmers are starting to come back "in", this time through the Japanese schoolgirl "slouch sock" fad.

--Fashion cycles are interesting. We're slowly but surely making what's at least our second run through a gamut of styles that were in, say, thirty years ago. Observe - bell bottoms and platform shoes were "in" while I was in high school (60's), peasant blouses and skirts are "in" now (70's), and we're just starting to see the beginnings of 80's fashion again - leg warmers, hoop earrings, etc. Though, interestingly, it's only taking about five years for each set to go through popularity...I'm not sure if this is a reflection on the shorter attention span of my generation, or the fact that we have access to the Internet and can therefore see the "newest styles" so much quicker than our parents could, or what...

--I'm very glad I'm more of a fashion observer than a fashion follower. What can I say? I like to wear what I think looks good. It saves me on spending $1000 for a new wardrobe every time MSN Fashion recommends a "fall accessory lineup"...

--Wow. These are some pretty deep thoughts for a day that started out as "Hm, let's get on eBay and see if there are any hot chicks in schoolgirl outfits to drool over..."

Actually, I commented on this back when I was in highschool believe it or not.

I had noticed when I was in junior high there was a 60's trend, then when I got into highschool everyone was getting into 70's (why on earth they thought disco was cool I'm still boggled over), and it was around this time that I predicted a resurgence into the 80's subculture.

It's strange to see someone else noting it though.

Actually, I'd noted it in high school too (and predicted the 80's resurgence as well). But that doesn't mean I have to like it any better...I went through my leg warmer phase in junior high, when everyone else was wearing uber-baggy clothes. No more for me, thanks.
