New comeback for when someone asks you a question you don't want to answer:

"Can I plead the second amendment? The answer isn't incriminating to me, but I'm going to need some way to defend myself from you when I answer that."

Ha! I like.

By the way, mind if I borrow a few hours? It's almost 2 AM here and I've still got a paper to finish, another paper that needs revising, some chemistry homework to do... and I was hoping to get some sleep so I can get back more of my voice before I try asking out the cute girl in my chemistry class I've been sitting next to all semester. :)

(So, naturally, I'm screwing around on LJ. But that's to be expected, I guess...)

Heh. I'd lend them to you, but I need them myself - I have this English paper due tomorrow, plus a Psychology test to study for. Fortunately the worst part of Communications is over, as evidenced by that last entry...still no idea where that speech came from, but I ain't complaining. =)

Gah! I know I've been watching too much Firefly when I start to use the words "ain't" or "I seen"...

Isn't it actually the fifth amendment?

No, that's the joke. The fifth amendment protects you from having to testify against yourself, i.e. saying something that could be incriminating. The second amendment, however, is the infamous "right to bear arms". If the answer to the question isn't incriminating to you, it's not covered by the fifth amendment; however, if it's something the other person doesn't particularly want to hear, you may be in danger and therefore in need of a means to defend yourself. Therefore, you invoke your right to bear arms.

Damn, I think way too much about this sort of thing...

That could also be constituted as a veiled threat - I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you, and all that.

Wow. If I were smart I would have thought about that too...I think.
