So it begins...
Sep. 22nd, 2003 04:15 pmThe account has been created, the user name has been entered, and I even have a semi-poetical (and appropriate, considering where I live) title picked for this particular incarnation of self-absorption. So, I suppose it's time to be moving on to the actual "content" area of things. Which, of course, begs the question: Why did I create this little shrine to my life, my thoughts, and anything else I choose to put down?
The answer is, I suppose, complicated. For one thing, it's an outlet - easier than writing things out longhand in an actual dead-tree form journal, but with the same emotional release that comes from being able to put your thoughts down in some coherent form. In addition, there's the possibility that the Internet always offers - that of being able to share your thoughts with some other humans, and perhaps find some sort of meaningful human contact without taking the risk of actually meeting somebody. After all, it's much easier to block someone's email address if they annoy you than to move to another section of the state to escape them (though it can be done; I should know.) As for my personal reason, a lot of it is being able to complain about both my personal life and human stupidity without geting chewed out by people I actually care about for complaining. There is also, however, the whole "public response" factor; if I wasn't interested in seeing what (if anything) people had to say, I would have made this journal private. Of course, there's no guarantee anyone's going to be interested (and probably a lot of guarantee that nobody will - after all, isn't that what blogs are all about? A reality check about how pathetic and non-interesting your life is to anyone else?) but it remains a possibility, nonetheless.
In any case, here is my contribution, such as it is. Take it how you will.

Date: 2003-10-24 03:47 pm (UTC)I have this honesty policy, I always try to be honest and up front with people, and when I encountered your journa I was left with a situation in which I had to decide should I say something, or just sort of back out of the room quietly?
Oh, and the icon? Yeah, this is why when you asked me if I read sluggy I was laughing so hard.
