Better days...
Mar. 17th, 2004 04:39 pmAm feeling a bit better than I did yesterday - a warm bath and warm bed helped immensely. I've also (hopefully) got at least one thing on the list finished - I called UAF and asked them to fax my immunization records to the UAS housing office. Assuming there aren't any problems en route, I should be able to turn in the housing application tomorrow, and hopefully move in over the weekend. Hopefully.
In the meantime, today was a nice sunny day (albeit one of those deceptively sunny days with a bit of a chill in the air), and, courtesy of my mp3 player and tape adapter, I'm now able to listen to Dune while driving to and from work/school. As suspected, it's great driving music...now if only I'm able to find some of their CD's somewhere...grr. If anyone out there has a Dune album (especially either "History" or "Expedicion") that they're willing to trade for my firstborn child, let me know...
I'm also in the middle of Angels and Demons, the prequel to The Da Vinci Code. I haven't read the latter, but I kept hearing about how good it was, so I picked A&D up off a paperback shelf in the SeaTac airport. It's actually pretty good - decently developed characters, a plot involving all sorts of interesting history and/or arty type stuff (my mother was an art history major before law school and some of her interest rubbed off on me through the years), well researched, and above all, well written. It's actually been some time since I found a novel I enjoyed this much. Once it's finished, I think I'm going to have to track down a copy of The Da Vinci Code, even though I've avoided doing so up until now because the hold list for the library copy is a mile long and I hate shelling out for hardcovers.
So things go. Here's hoping life continues to be on the decent-to-good side.
