The Fail: Last night, I go to transfer some money out of savings for a couple of upcoming expenses; since we're about to go out to dinner, I just do a quick online transfer before closing my computer and heading out the door. Lo and behold, when I return and open my computer again (with the web browser still on the confirmation page), I realize that I managed to transfer the money out of checking and into savings. Which, since the amount was more than I had in my checking account, meant that my overdraft protection was going to kick in and pull the money back out of savings, dinging me with a $10 fee in the process and sending my mother and me snippy notes about it. (Want to motivate yourself to stop overdrafting your account? Put your mother's name on it so that every time you do so it tells her about it.)

The Bright Side: Once I caught it I transferred money back immediately, hoping (since both transfers took place after-hours) that the bank would see what happened and skip the overdraft transfer. Fortunately, whatever kind soul does the overnight transaction verifications took pity on me and straightened it all out. So now I just get to do some math to straighten out the figures. Hooray!

The Fail: While we were out yesterday evening, I somehow managed to lose my keys - I think they probably fell out of my purse when I grabbed it at the restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until this morning, when I was about to leave for work and couldn't find them to start my car.

The Bright Side: Brian was home sick this morning, so I was able to take his car (although the passenger-side door gets frozen open when the temperatures are cold, and of course I was smart and had to open it this morning, so I had to wait for it to thaw out before I could drive to work, which meant I was late. Yay.) Hopefully the restaurant will have my keys, because otherwise I'm going to have to go through the rigmarole and expense of getting another set since Brian lost the spares out at EagleCrest a couple years ago.

Here's hoping the rest of today is a little less full of fail...
