Exercise resolution time again!

I've been feeling like a bit of a lump the past few days, probably because my big project has been sorting through, organizing, and re-ripping my music collection. Which has been proceeding well, but generally involves sitting on the couch in the living room for long periods. Not exactly an activity conducive to making one feel fit.
So, since it's the time of year when I make all my grand staving-off-depression-over-the-winter exercise resolutions, I'm going to take up swimming; now that I'm working right across the highway from the pool, it's rather easier to work into my schedule. I'll admit I'm a tad annoyed - last year, they had afternoon lap swim at 5:00, which was when I got off work at the other end of town. This year, when I get off at 4:30 on this side of town, they've moved it to 5:30; so unless I want to wait around for an hour after work it looks like I'm going to the early-morning one or nothing. I tried that out this morning, though, and it's actually not too bad; I'm used to getting up earlier than this job requires, so if I just keep to that schedule I should be fine. I think I'll make it my goal to go at least twice during the week and once over the weekend, weather permitting (if Brian's having to drive me to work because it's too snowy that mightn't work so well).
Damn, it sucks to be out of shape, though. While I can still tread water more or less indefinitely, I could barely make it a length of the pool doing the crawl stroke before I was gasping for air. Also, I can feel how the range of motion in my joints is much less than it used to be. I think I'm going to try and take up Wii Fit again, albeit in a more supplementary capacity; see about doing more of the balance and yoga exercises to help with that.
I know I've probably said it before, but seriously...if only getting into shape didn't require so much gosh-darn work.
