More job hunting. Woo!
Dec. 17th, 2009 08:09 pmI never got a call back about the other job, but I'm not too disappointed - I hope the woman found someone who would fit in better with her expectations. Meanwhile, I applied for a receptionist position over at the local newspaper, which looks much more promising. My initial impression of the office was laid-back but productive, so I'd probably fit in fine. The woman who took my application also said that I got the award for both initiative and perkiness, the former because I pointed out that their job application was a mess formatting-wise and I'd be happy to fix it for them, and the latter because, well...I guess I'm perky. (I did warn her that there was a strong sarcastic streak beneath the surface, and she laughed and said that that was the general M.O. around there, so hooray.) Interview's tomorrow at 2:00, and I even got a nice button-up shirt at the mall for the occasion.
Tomorrow's looking to be a busy day - I have to take my mother to Tucson early to get to the airport, and then come back for the interview, and later in the afternoon go look at a nightstand/dresser set (we may actually have bedroom furniture soon, thanks to Craigslist). But hey, it's nice to be a bit busy again. And if I can nab this job, we'll have some extra cashflow coming in - definitely a useful thing, even though I'll miss being able to sleep in almost every day.
