Under the Milky Way tonight...
Feb. 14th, 2004 06:07 pmSo I made Ryan promise, weeks ago, that he wouldn't buy me a dozen roses for Valentine's Day, just because it's so cliché and I didn't want him to spend that much money, anyway.
Valentine's Day comes around, and it goes all right, but by the time I get off work I'm in a bit of a depression. Not for any single specific reason, just a bunch of things coming together, and probably a rebound from the relatively happy state I've been in recently. This isn't helped much by the fact that when I get home from work, Ryan's nowhere to be found.
I try to be a big girl about it, and get myself some food and a glass of wine. After downloading a song that I'd heard on the radio on the way home that fit my mood ("Under the Milky Way Tonight", by The Church -
eventhewaves, you might want to check it out if you haven't already), I sat back, had some wine and a day-old BLT, and felt slightly miserable. But in a comfortable sort of way, if that makes any sense.
In any case, I'm just sitting and thinking for a bit, when Ryan gets home bearing - you guessed it - roses. Ten of them. Not a dozen. I wasn't sure whether to smack him for ruining my bad mood or hug him for cheering me up so unexpectedly. I think I ended up doing both.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.
