New books!

missroseroseI know that I'm hardly alone in this feeling, but I really don't think there's anything quite as exciting as new books. Even when they're copies of books you've already read numerous times, it's still so much fun to open the shopping bag or the Amazon box and see them there, just waiting to be opened, smelled, caressed, and read.
On a related note, it's kind of funny how well and truly those signature Amazon boxes have permeated the American consciousness. A decade ago, Amazon didn't even exist in the minds of most folk. Now, I'm willing to bet you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't get a little thrill of anticipation when an Amazon box shows up on their doorstep.
I'm still trying to decide which is the better feeling - when the box contains new copies of old favorites that you can't wait to reread, or when the box contains something you've never read before but heard many good things about?
