Cars and snow...

missroseroseWell, after two trips to the mechanic, the Baroness (what Ryan and I have named the Lumina, because she travels like a stately lady) is feeling much better. The first time we got the catalytic converter replaced (beats me as to what that does, something with the exhaust system), but she was still rumbling, so we took her back in and got one of the engine coils replaced. She's running fine, now, which is definitely a good thing given the fact that I had to drive across town twice this morning in a snowstorm. See, Ryan's sports car (which we've named the Bunny, for its speed and popup headlights, plus the fact that it's a sexy car) is in the shop again, which meant I had to get up at 7:30 AM and drive through fairly heavy snow to go pick him up. Bleah.
Fortunately, I think I've figured out the trick to driving in snow: Don't stop quickly. Don't accelerate quickly. Oh, yeah, and don't turn quickly either. So long as you don't do anything quickly other than traveling in a relatively straight line, you'll be fine. On that note, however, you know the roads are bad when you're driving 50-55 mph in the left lane and actually passing people...
Moving into campus housing and being consigned back to my own two feet, come the end of March, is actually looking pretty attractive...
