Feb. 25th, 2006 09:18 pmThe last couple weekends I've been feeling kind of...muzzy, I guess. Like I'm not entirely in touch with the world. I've been sleeping more, too. I don't feel like this at all during the week, though...
...come to think of it, this has started right around the time I've started drinking coffee regularly during the week. ><
In second-job news, I ended up missing out on the Dreyers merchandising job by a squidgin. The guy told me that he was very impressed with both my resumé and my communication skills, but one of the other applicants had some experience in the field, so he ended up getting the job. He did say he was going to keep my resumé on file in case they had another opening in Juneau, which was nice of him.
However, I may have a better opportunity coming up - Seanna O'Sullivan, the photographer who did Brian's and my anniversary pictures, is in rather dire need of some help with the business and production aspects of her studio. I gave her my resumé today and told her I really think I could do a lot of good for her, since what it appears she needs is someone who can organize and get stuff done (which is more or less my specialty). Also, it looks like the hours I have available are what she needs, so I may well have a job with her at some point in the future. At the moment the biggest obstacle is that she needs to get the paperwork and whatnot filed. Given that this seems to be the sort of thing she needs help with, I'm going to guess that I'll probably hear back from her in...oh, about a month. :)
In first-job news, I have a bet on with Wade (the 50% owner in the company). See, Brian Duncan (whom we'll call BD and who's my Brian's boss and the 40% owner in the company) is both a very brilliant technician and a complete doofus when it comes to doing almost anything paperwork-wise. One of Wade's biggest headaches is trying to track down where BD's been, what work he's been doing, who we're billing it to, etc. So the deal is, if I can straighten BD out with regards to paperwork and keep his workorders and time recorded and up to date by June, I get a raise. (I was actually sort of surprised that he agreed to this; mostly when I said "So if I get this working do I get a raise?" I was joking. BD immediately laughed and went "No, it's your job", but Wade just glared at him and said "Yes, if you can get this straightened out, I'll give you a raise."
BD doesn't think I can do it. Brian doesn't think I can do it. Joe doesn't think I can do it. I don't think Wade thinks I can do it either, though I don't think he's certain of that (after all, he's married to Nancy, who's very similar in temperament to me). The general consensus of the office is that I'm more or less SOL.
I'm getting a raise in June. =D
Heck, if I manage to get a second job and a raise at my first job this summer, I'm going to be well on my way towards saving for college or a new car or whatever I decide to spend my savings on...
