More late-night stuff...
Dec. 6th, 2003 05:02 amWow. Four hours of sleep and residual caffiene in the system does a lot for your wakefulness. I don't think I've been up at 5 AM since...well, since my last set of finals.
While searching for statistics on the Web about abortions (my speech has undergone several topic transmutations, abortion is the latest incarnation), I came across the site http://www.abortionfacts.com. Now, with a name like that, I'd assumed it'd be a fair, unbiased report about the facts of abortion - statistics, medical facts, procedure descriptions, etc.
Boy, was I wrong.
While the site tried to maintain an appearance of neutrality regarding its "factual content", I soon realized that all the printed statistics and language used were slanted one way. I finally looked up a couple of other pages and found them claiming "As Christians, we are called to abhor the sin of abortion..."
A quote from the home page of the site states that "This site presents accurate, up to date evidence on the issue so that you can make up your own mind about abortion." While I can't vouch for the accuracy of the information one way or the other, I believe I can safely say that the general tone of the website is not conducive towards making one's own decision, as they are all too eager to draw their own conclusions and foist them off as "facts."
*sigh*
While I'm no big fan of abortion (I certainly don't think it's right), I still stick by my belief that it's a woman's body and therefore her decision. I just hate the fact that it's so incredibly hard to find unbiased information on this topic. So few people seem to be able to report statistics and facts without drawing their own conclusions...
