Well, bear in mind that to most folks (including me before I read up on this), "ultrasound" just means "goop squirted on the belly and a wand moved around the outside". Annoying and unnecessary, yes, but not physically invasive. I don't know if the word "transvaginal" even appears in the bill - it's only the medical implication of the fact that most abortions happen in the first trimester that implies that the vast majority would end up involving penetration. So I can understand them not connecting the dots there, or even realizing exactly how invasive the TV process is (see my response to Maria below). Which doesn't change my disappointment and anger one iota.
I read about Maryland - congratulations! I will happily join your hopes. I haven't seen the clip you mention, but I'll have to go looking when I'm not at work.
