I managed to convince [livejournal.com profile] taktukbrightsea into getting me the cutest little Red Riding Hood outfit for my birthday; we found it on eBay for a reasonable price and I got a short petticoat and some stockings with red bows to go with it. Once it gets here I'll have to post some pictures. I'm also thinking that I might make a decent cape with an actual hood, once my cape pattern gets here.

Speaking of which, I finally got an email back from the seller of said patterns about what's going on. Apparently my package was in her car with a couple of others when it flooded, and she had to replace the whole shebang. Supposedly it went out in the mail on Friday, though, so I should be getting them sometime this week. Which means I can start sewing again. Yay!

A big thanks and a *smooch* go out to Adam (a.k.a. the-cute-and-intelligent-Mormon-guy-I-met-at-Emily's-wedding-reception-but-never-got-around-to-mentioning) for the Sandman comic book. Hopefully I'll get my hands on Book 8 soon so that I can read Book 9...well, hopefully, I'll eventually manage to get the entire series, but y'know. One thing at a time.

Saw the remake of "The Music Man" today; hadn't seen the original, but I liked Matthew Broderick well enough. It suffers from the pacing problems a lot of musicals face in terms of holding the storyline up to make room for the musical numbers; that sort of thing works much better on stage, where you've got so much more to focus on, than it does on the screen. Altogether, though, it wasn't a bad production; it had some fun songs (I've always been a fan of the "Marian the Librarian" number, for obvious reasons), and managed to (mostly) avoid the kitschy saccharine stuff that made "Annie" so unpalatable.

Interestingly enough, when I had my music lesson today, my mother said that I'd made a lot of progress. I guess the practicing is paying off, though I still need to work on holding the tone steady. It's still frustrating to me not to be able to get things right the first time. =s And, as my mother pointed out when I confided my doubts about my voice to her, it's not that I sound like shit so much that I sound like someone whose voice is changing. So yeah, it doesn't sound great now, but it's getting better. I've just got to keep with it...I hope.

And that's it for tonight's hodge-podge entry, folks. Hope we didn't take up too much of your time.
