From the IMDb.com trivia page for Passion of the Christ, emphasis mine:

"In an interview with Newsweek magazine, James Caviezel spoke about a few of the difficulties he experienced while filming. This included being accidentally whipped twice, which has left a 14 inch scar on his back. Caviezel also admitted he was struck by lightning while filming the Sermon on the Mount and during the crucifixion, experienced hypothermia during the dead of winter in Italy."

From what I've heard about the movie, I'm almost inclined to think this was a message of some sort...and anyone who knows me can tell you I'm not particularly religious.

Needless to say, I doubt I'll be going to see this particular film...

Oh, it's a message all right...

It's a message from the Old Gods, and they're pissed off. For instance, the lightning thing? Pure Zeus...

You're probably better off; it seems to have a tendency to kill people.

(I'm kidding, of course; I'm sure people dying during movies is a pretty normal occurrence. It's still ironic, though. :)

y'know, hypothermia from being strung up immobile in the dead of winter seems like a pretty logical occurrence to me...

although I have to admit that the rash of lightning strikes and other events that may be called smitings are fairly unnerving. Is Rose getting faith?

Struck by lightning TWICE... I'd say that's a pretty damn clear message.

I think even Zeus is getting pissed off at the idiocy being perpetrated in the name of Jesus.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone - feel free. If I didn't want my stuff to be read, I wouldn't put it online. =)

I am wondering myself. It seems like (pardon the pun) overkill. If movie crises are drawn out too long, I start laughing.

The movie sounds like fetish porn.
Did you hear some lady in Kansas died watching it today? Thanks for the free publicity, lady. Nother mil in Mel's mill...

Hi.

A friend told me that an NPR commentator said three thing about the Passion of the Christ movie.
1) It was like a snuff film.
2) I should be retitled as "The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre"
3) Who the hell wants to watch someone get brutally beaten for 15 minutes by guards. Really. Who?

Oh, and don't visit my LJ. Sex stuff = way too much. Might offend, yada, yada, yada. I can talk about other kinds of things. I just don't in my LJ.
