missroseroseI realize that tolerating foolishness gladly is something that I've never specialized in to begin with, but for some reason my patience has been wearing thinner than usual on the subject. Things that usually just make me shrug and go "that sucks that they're making that decision, but hey, it's their life" have been causing me to want to take people by the lapels and go "Oh for fuck's sake, GET OVER YOURSELF". Which isn't to say that isn't what they need to do at that particular point in time, but shaking them and yelling isn't generally the best way to get one's message across.
I don't like feeling this way. It makes me less prone to watch what I'm saying, and more likely to say things that may be true but may still be hurtful - just because I happen to have the gift of perspective in a particular situation doesn't give me the right to beat people over the head with it. And usually this generalized lack of patience means there's something up with me that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, all the likely candidates I'm coming up with are things that I'm already well aware of and that will take some time to fix. (Goodbye, Christmas; hello, January and February and Seasonal Affective Disorder.)
In the meantime, if I snap at you, please don't take it personally. My normal saintlike patience should hopefully be reasserting itself soon. In the meantime, I think I'll take some of the extra money I have this month and get a massage...
